FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW MUCH MONEY DOES A COMMUNITY SPONSOR GROUP HAVE TO RAISE?

The UK government requires Community Sponsors to have at least £9,000 raised plus to have secured housing for at least two years before an application can be considered.

HOW MANY FAMILIES ARE YOU SUPPORTING?

Companions has Home Office approval for one family.

DO I HAVE TO BE A MEMBER OF THE CHURCH TO VOLUNTEER?

Definitely not! We welcome people from across the community. All volunteers are interviewed and have to complete training and be background checked but apart from that we welcome everybody.

WHEN I CLICK THE "DONATE" BUTTON, WHERE DOES MY MONEY GO?

When you click the donate button, you are taken to the Companions' Give a Little online donation page.  This is the online donation facility used by the Church of the Most Precious Blood in Sidmouth. The payment facility is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

The money raised through this online link will go into the parish bank account but will be earmarked specifically for the sole use of Companions. Once funds no longer need to be raised, we will remove the donate buttons.

However, if we do inadvertently receive more donations than we need, the excess money will be passed to another Home Office approved Community Sponsorship group. So you can be assured that anything you give will only be used to support displaced families.
